Clubpenguin News-Coins for Change
Coins for Change!!
Hello Penguins!
Christmas is just around the corner and we’re excited about all the events that are coming to Club Penguin this holiday season.
Along with all the fun events like new parties, new events, new furniture, etc., I wanted to be the first to let you know about something brand new we’re doing this Christmas!
We’ve decided to call it “Coins for Change.” This idea came from you by letting us know how much you want to make a difference in the world! We thought this Christmas would be the perfect time to do something about it.
A total of $1 million dollars will be donated to actual organizations and you get to decide where it goes! By donating your Club Penguin coins in game, you’ll be able to help kids around the world, help kids' who are sick, and help the environment.
I’ll try to get you more details over the next few weeks, but remember to read the Club Penguin
Times on Thursday for more information.
Thanks for being a part of Club Penguin, and for helping change the world!
Until then... Waddle on!

Water cycle
Introduction
Precipitation, evaporation, and condensation are all terms that you recognize, but what do they really mean? They are all part of the water cycle, which is a complex process that not only gives us water to drink, food to eat, but also helps our plants grow. Only about 3% of the Earth’s water is fresh, and 1% of that water can be used for many human purposes. Why can’t we use the other 2% of the fresh water found on the Earth? What about the other 97% of the water found in the world? To find these answers and to discover more, come along for an interactive journey through the water cycle!
Task
You will search for information that will answer the questions about the water cycle. Find a partner and look for the answers together to the questions that follow. You will use the given Internet sites to find the answers to the questions. Make sure you take notes and don’t forget to transfer your work to a Word document. Copy and paste an Internet picture in the final draft. Do not forget to cite your graphic resource.
Advice
The easiest way to answer the questions is to go in order, using the Internet sites in that order, too. Don’t rush through the Web sites, take your time finding the correct answer. The sites have lots of good information and are interesting, stay on task.
Process
Answer the following questions in your social studies notebook:
- What is the definition of evaporation?
- What three processes occurs to form clouds?
- List three forms of precipitation.
- Describe precipitation in your own words.
- Name five ways we can conserve water.
- Is the water you used this morning the same water that dinosaurs used millions of years ago? Explain the reason for your answer.
- What happens to a glass of water if it is left out over a long period of time? (Hint, this is one of the three processes of the water cycle.)
- What is the origin of energy that drives the water cycle?
- What is the process where a liquid changes from its liquid state to a gaseous state?
- As a result of what three processes does water travel from the surface of the Earth, into the atmosphere, and return to the Earth again?
Internet Sites
http://www-k12.atmos.washington.edu/k12/pilot/water_cycle/grabber2.html
http://mbgnet.mobot.org/fresh/cycle/concepts.htm
Evaluation
Notes in notebook on sites
Word processed document and graphic attachment
Cooperative learning effort
Conclusion
After researching this topic, you should be able to describe in detail the three processes of the water cycle, water conservation techniques, and you should have developed an overall understanding that water never leaves the earth but is used over and over.
Culminating Activity
Link to http://www.brainpop.com/ if you want to have fun playing games while learning more about the water cycle at the same time! Both of these sites contain activities that can be played with friends or alone. When you get to the second site, click on the Rat, he will show you the rest.

Why do Zebra have stripes?(Myth)
One day Mr. and Mrs. Zebra were going to a party with all there other Jungle friends. Mr. and Mrs. Zebra both wanted to look very special, but in a different kind of way.
Mr. Zebra painted the front part of himself green, like the lizard. You see they were all white back then. Mrs. Zebra painted the back part of herself a tan color, like the lion.
Mr. Zebra didn't like the way that Mrs. Zebra looked. Mrs. Zebra didn't like the way that Mr. Zebra looked. So they talked about it and decided that they liked black, as there color.
Mr. Zebra painted the front part of himself black. Mrs. Zebra painted the back part of herself black. They looked at each other and both had an instantaneous thought, "Stripes!" They said together. They each painted them selves in stripes and went to the party later that night.
Everyone at the party loved there new creation of an outfit!
They got plenty of compliments and were even complimented by the king of the jungle, Mr. Lion. He thought they were very creative.
The party ended late that night, but talk of Mr. and Mrs. Zebra's outfit kept going well into the morning. Soon all the Zebras, in the jungle, were painting them selves in stripes. Soon Zebras all around the world were doing it to.
After awhile Mr. and Mrs. Zebra got tired of stripes. But when they tried to wash off there stripes they found that the paint had sunk in well beyond there fur. They couldn't get it off for anything. Soon all the Zebra's started getting tired of stripes. But they couldn't get there's off either!
To this day the Zebras still can't get there stripes off. That is why the Zebra has stripes!

Halloween Partyy- Runescape
Hallowe'en 2007 Event Guide
This Hallowe'en, Death is coming for you! Death's servant just recently passed away, and now he has need of a temporary replacement to make sure that his terrifying Mansion of Death is in good order to receive his new servant. If you help him tidy things up a bit he's be sure to be grateful, and might even offer you a dark and deathly reward. |
To start the Hallowe'en event you will need to find the very, very black house portal located north-west of Port Sarim (indicated by the menacingly foreboding black area on the map above). You'll know you're getting close when the light fades from the world, seemingly sucked into the unnatural black disc waiting for you.
When you arrive in Death's house, you'll find yourself in the main reception hall. Provided you aren't too horrified by the thought of what might lie in wait, you can then proceed down the hall to be greeted by the Reaper, who will be seated in his dark throne waiting for you.
In his most ghastly voice from beyond the grave, Death will explain the situation to you before commanding you to do his awful bidding around his (admittedly quite grand, if a bit messy) house of endless night. Moving about the house, you will find yourself accosted by nightmarish gargoyles leering from the doorways, portraits of Death's grand ancestors and Muncher - the Beast of the Night and Chewer of Misplaced Soft Toys and Home Furnishings.
Choke back your fear, put an end to your misgivings and summon what little courage you still have, and go through the first portal to face the visions of decay and nastiness that await you...
In the Garden of Deathly Shadows
The first challenge you must overcome is that in the garden. Filled with woeful trees heavy with sodden and dead leaves, you must fight your way through spider webs to recover a skull. This isn't any ordinary skull - it once belonged to Death's former servant, and is a sign of what may become of you should you fail to serve Death well.
To work your way through the maze of void-born plants and the sticky morass of undead spider webs, simply click on one of the webs. If the spiders have made it well, you will be unable to push through, but if they have gone to the spider afterlife while spinning it, you should be able to move into the next section of the labyrinth.
Somewhere, within the maddening twists and convolutions of the garden, is the skull you have to find. Don't bother trying to follow someone else, though: the garden is different for everyone who enters...
In the Lounge of the Reaper of Souls
Your next task to put Death's house in order will be to find his missing possessions in the lounge and parlour and put them in their rightful places. To help you out with all the kindness of the warm embrace of oblivion, Death has left his diary on the table in the parlour. To begin your task, try searching in the areas marked on the map below:
The items you're looking for:
Let it not be said that Death is an uncaring entity: he's procured some bones for Muncher, Hound of Eternity and Soiler of Nice Rugs, to chew upon.
Death's mentor has long gone to dust... except for his eyeball, which Death keeps around the house for some reason no mortal could ever hope to comprehend.
An Hourglass of Resurrection is an immensely powerful artefact that only those beyond Death's reach can ever hope to own.
As awe-inspiringly and terrifyingly horrific as Death may be normally, he becomes all the more charismatic with the help of his Voice of Doom potion.
Given his day job, and the number of times he has to visit the Wilderness and Lumbridge Swamp each day, it's hardly surprising that he leaves robes lying around the house.
It's often said that a craftsman is only as good as his tools. This probably doesn't apply to Death, but he likes to keep his scythe on the cutting edge anyway.
A Last Will and Testament. There's bound to be plenty of these lying about.
Once you've located the artefacts, you should read Death's diary to figure out where each item should be put. With that done, it's time to sneak past Muncher (Devourer of Souls and Dog Biscuits) again and ascend the stairs.
In the Playground of Solitude and Lost Toys
Your final task to appease the Lord of Eternal Endlessness is to test the obstacle course upstairs. Death has a strict policy of physical fitness for those in his employ who still have muscles, and it's been many long centuries since the obstacle course was last given a tune-up. The course is quite ordinary by Death's standards, and shouldn't pose any difficulty for an adventurer determined to escape Death's lair!
The course begins with the Slide of Madness, followed by a number of Spring Boards of Lost Souls that will propel you across pools of ominous black ooze, a wade through a regulation-size Terrifying Wading Pool of Green Slime, and finally a careful negotiation of the Field of Awful Pitfall TrapsTM.
With all Death's tasks complete, you can head back down to the entrance hall to claim your reward - if you dare.
Have a truly nightmarish Hallowe'en!

New Crokodile-Runescape
hey come and check this out-
Wise Old Achievments
I was sitting down to a nice cup of tea the other day, with the Wise Old Man, and he just wouldn't shut up about how busy he'd been the day before. He was pretty convinced no-one could match the amount he gets done in a day.
Just in case any of you foolhardy adventurers think you've got what it takes, the Wise Old Man dictated everything he did that day to me.
Said "Good Morning" to Bob the Cat as usual.
Had a nice cup of tea over at Ye Olde Tea Shoppe.
Got myself warmed up for the day ahead by crossing all 6 crossing points on the River Lum, without getting my hat soggy, in under 5 minutes. I've still got it!
Threw a chinchompa at Mugger (level 6) in Varrock. He survived.
Ran four times around the Wizards' Tower in less than 1 minute. That'll confuse those blasted wizards.
Wrestled a level 63 crocodile on the River Elid without weapons or armour. Nothing makes you feel alive like a bit of danger!
Found a bit of Karamja's coastline that looks like a face as part of my geographical studies! [Pete - after I bit his toe he reluctantly let on that it was on the west coast of Karamja]
Daily exercises! Ran all the way to the Wilderness bone fence and back, followed by a lap of the Gnome Stronghold Agility Course. I may no longer be an adventurer, but that's no reason not to stay in shape. You never know when I'll be called upon to thwart an evil plot involving chinchompas of mass destruction.
Finished the day with a relaxing pint (or three) of Greenman's Ale under the canopy of the Grand Tree.
Stumbled home and did a little dance in front of Miss Schism...
At that point the Wise Old Man muttered something about apologising to Miss Schism, went red and refused to tell me any more. As you can see, the life of an Old Man is a hectic and exciting one. Can you imagine doing all that in a single day? Well, I suppose the gauntlet has been thrown down - can you complete those tasks faster than the Wise Old man's 24 hours, and if so, just how fast can you do them?
Do bear in mind that if you attempt to beat the Wise Old Man's time then you'll have no reward for this, simply the sense of achievement that it may give you.
